Would you prefer marketing your products on forums or blogs? Blogs are the usual option for marketers but I think I’d prefer to use forums. What do you think?

I think blogs are more preferable when it comes to marketing. Forums too are good for marketing but blogs can be systematically well organized and coordinated when compared with forums. However forums which are extremely popular could really be better than most of the blogs when it comes to marketing.

I feel both are equally good. But most of the times, blog derive more traffic. So it is wise to advertise in blogs. And the option of RSS feeds are great. So enjoy the power of technology and advertise in blogs.

Blogs seem like the ideal way to go because as the author, you control everything from the blog content to the way the site looks.  With a forum, you are at the mercy of whether or not you get members.  An active forum will generate money but if for whatever reason, forum members begin to disappear, then your forum is dead.  With a blog, if you write great content, you will always have readers.

I think both can be effective if you know what you are doing. I, unfortunately, am not that versed in how to do this. I would love to learn though.

If you mean advertising on someone else's blog/forum, then definitely forums. The second I see an ad in the comment section of a personal family blog, I am completely turned off of whatever company happened to post it.

If you mean one to be owned/operated by the company... well, I think it really depends. If you're looking to get a lot of feedback and really keep people's interest, then forums are probably better. It allows potential customers to really get involved and when that happens, they're more likely to stick with you. But blogs are nice in that it's only content YOU want to post.

I think that I would prefer to use a blog because they are easily indexed by search engine.  I don’t know if a forum can do that.
