One of the useful methods I had found for improving page rankings and SEO is that of article submission. I used to write articles which concentrates on general topics and the topics related to my site and submit them to the free article submission sites.

Members who use my article have also use my website links at the end of it, there by increasing the backlinks as well as the traffic to my site.

Article marketing is a terrific way to get some great traffic and the necessary backlinks to your site.  I find the most effective directory is EZA but I also submit to about 10 others with lower rankings.  It results in a trickle of traffic from each one.  The biggest benefit is from the backlink and the key to the highest effectiveness is to use the anchor text of the keyword you are trying to rank for.

This is a useful thread. Another article directory site I've used in the past is isnare.  A lot of publishers I know like to use that site to find content as well as EZA.

Is isnare an actual directory?  I thought it was just a submission service that puts your article on a bunch of directories.  Don't forget some of the high PR Web 2.0 properties when doing article marketing.  Google still gives a lot of weight to Squidoo and Hubpages among others.  Those two also give you a trickle of income from the sites along with the traffic.

The nice thing about artilce submission is that you are basically the expert in whatever you are writing about.  That gives you an air of credibility that few people can challenge.  And since you are the expert, the prospective customer is more than likely to click the link at the bottom of your article.
